MOORESVILLE, Indiana, July 7, 2014 – Equipment Technologies, the manufacturer of Apache-brand agricultural sprayers, has named Veera P. Rajendran its Director of Engineering.
Rajendran, 47, will lead ET’s product development, design and improvement. He has 20 years of experience in mechanical engineering and technology development, including the past nine years at Rolls-Royce Corp. of Indianapolis, where he served as Chief of Research and Technology Programs and Strategy in the company’s aerospace division.
“I’m excited to be joining Equipment Technologies,” Rajendran said. “It’s a company with a lot of growth potential and strong leadership. I’m looking forward to helping ET continue to develop and build high-performance sprayers that are affordable for farmers.”
In addition to working closely with ET’s engineering and manufacturing teams, Rajendran said he’ll seek input from the company’s large Apache Dealership network and Apache customers to drive greater innovation and product improvement.
“Veera will have complete responsibility, soup-to-nuts, for our products,” said Matt Hays, ET’s Chief Executive Officer. “He’ll be in charge of making existing products bulletproof and addressing maintenance issues or wear-and-tear problems that our products might have. He’ll also have a heavy influence on making sure we build a machine that is highly manufacturable in a scalable way, so that we continue to have the efficiencies from an assembly production standpoint that we have today. We’re very fortunate to have him join the company.”
Rajendran is a native of India and a naturalized U.S. citizen. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology in India in 1987 and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mississippi in 1994. He received a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1998 and a MBA with a Leadership concentration from Butler University this past year.
Before he became the Chief of Research and Technology Programs and Strategy at Rolls-Royce, Rajendran served as the company’s Manager of Turbine Thermal Design and, earlier, Senior Engineer of Aero-thermal Design. Before joining Rolls-Royce Rajendran was a Senior Research Engineer at General Electric.
Rajendran holds five U.S. patents. His work has garnered Rajendran numerous honors, including being named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, GE Managerial Award and GE’s Golden Quill Award for research publications, among others.
Rajendran is married and has two children. He lives in Carmel, Indiana.
